About Better Boards, Better Schools
Better Boards Better Schools is a political movement composed of parents, community members, leaders, educators, students, and former district administrators and school board members who are organized to ensure that our school board functions more effectively in order to achieve our school district’s mission.
We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and that starts with the leadership of our school board. Our movement aims to hold the school board accountable and to promote diversity, respect, collaboration, and commitment.
Our Action Plan
1) Monitor school board processes and decisions and inform the community about AAPS policies, contracts, and established standards for due process and fairness. We will also publicly promulgate important decisions and actions undertaken by the AAPS Board of Education, and highlight those Trustees who both act responsibly in the best interest of the district, and those who don't.

2) When a vacancy occurs on the school board, engage the public and trustees in a discussion of how to recruit outstanding qualified candidates and choose someone who will focus on excellent education for all AAPS students.​​
3) Recruit outstanding qualified candidates to run for school board in 2024 and support their campaigns.

4) Engage and inform the public through events, forums, discussions, and information on issues and topics that affect students and teachers in the AAPS district, impact the community, or otherwise inform voters and tax-payers interested in public school governance, funding, and education.

5) Pursue these action steps through December 31, 2024, at a minimum, and beyond this if useful to engage and support an excellent and transparent AAPS Board of Education or continue to advocate for such a Board in the future.
